After an exciting and unpredictable six weeks of voting, the Tournament of Disney Rides presented by World of Walt has sliced the field of attractions down to its final two contenders, and your votes will decide the champ. With one week of voting remaining, Rise of the Resistance will square off with the Haunted Mansion for the title of the top ride at Walt Disney World.
Rise of the Resistance, the number one seed from Hollywood Studios, continued its tourney-long demolition show, dethroning the previously untouchable Soarin’ in the semis. While it was the first time Rise did not pick up at least 60% of the head-to-head tally, it’s 58% total was good enough for an easy win with over one thousand votes cast.
On the other side, Haunted Mansion needed a highwire act to escape the vaunted #1 seed from Animal Kingdom, Avatar Flight of Passage. But at the end of the day, the Mansion did it again, picking up roughly 52% of the vote and claiming its spot in the championship. Despite being seeded only eighth in its own park, the Mansion has now edged Buzz Lightyear, the Mine Train, Space Mountain, Pirates, and Flight of Passage, and is one victory away from the crown.
The stakes are now set for one of the most intriguing final matches possible. It’s a quintessential Disney classic against an immersive technological wonder on a scope never before seen, and it all comes down to the voters.
