A piece of Disney World history will soon be removed…
The iconic Tower of Terror billboard will be removed from World Drive. First installed in the mid-1990s, the sign has been one of the fun marketing installatinos that Walt Disney World has positioned around property. At this time, the billboard is still standing, but sources are reporting that orange barrels and construction equipment have been seen in the area, likely in preparation for the sign’s removal.

At one point, the sign, which depicts a Tower of Terror elevator, would simulate the attraction’s thrilling drop. Over the years, the sign was no longer operational and the structure stood stationary. In 2021, the elevator once again began operating as cars zoomed by on World Drive.

Currently, there are several other signs on property that follow the same 90’s-era 3-D design. It is unclear if these signs will also be taken down. It is believed that landscaping will replace the 199-foot-tall structure.
