Disney Imagineer Shares Insider Construction Photos For EPCOT’s Journey of Water Inspired By Moana

Things are really taking shape!

Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley recently spent a day visiting the project site for Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. The attraction is coming to the World Nature neighborhood of EPCOT. Guests to the park are able to get a small glimpse of the progress from the monorail as it passes above the site. Via his Instagram. account, Zach was happy to share some views from the ground, right in the middle of the process.

Zach took a walk of the site alongside Imagineers Scott and Robert, two of the leaders overseeing the project. He witnessed the craft of creating rockwork and saw the carving and sculpting process firsthand. Zach believes that, upon completion, it should be impossible to distinguish from the real thing.

The craft of creating rockwork combines a blend of art and science. The range of textures are inspired by real-world formations – all the way down to the tiniest details and variation.
