Celebrate Mickey Through the Years with the 2023 runDisney Virtual Series

Disney’s magical virtual event series is making its return this summer for the 2023 runDisney Virtual Series. The Disney100 Challenge invites everyone to gather friends and family to run one of three unique 5Ks. Or if you want to really go the extra mile, you can take on the challenge of completing all three!

Let’s take a look at the individual event themes for this summertime virtual event tradition.

Disney is going back to where it all began with a tribute to Mickey Mouse’s debut role in 1928 to kick off the series. Whistle your way through 3.1 miles during the Steamboat Willie 5K!

Conjure up some magic during your virtual miles! The Sorcerer’s Apprentice 5K pays tribute to Mickey Mouse’s most magical role in the Disney animated classic, “Fantasia.”

Nothing can stop you now as you tackle this virtual 5K. The Runaway Railway 5K is inspired by the recent attraction starring both Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.

Feeling a little extra energy in your running shoes? Participants can choose to complete all three virtual 5Ks to earn this extra-special finisher medal featuring the mice that started it all – Mickey and Minnie! This year’s medal comes with some hidden magic – pop off the front part of the medal to reveal a magnet to show off your achievement on your fridge, and still have a keepsake medal for your wall.

If you’ve never participated in a runDisney virtual race before, here’s a quick scoop on how it works.

You choose your own magical run through a course of your choosing. You can choose someplace in your neighborhood, a local park, or even use the running trails at a Disney resort. These virtual races are a fun way to introduce family and friends to the joy of running and who knows, they might even lead you and your pals to run at Disney World one day in an on-site runDisney event.
