Florida’s Division of Emergency Management Issues Heat Warning

Most people know that Florida gets hot during the summer with temps commonly reaching the 90s during daytime hours. But this summer the extreme heat and humidity have prompted warnings from Florida Division of Emergency Management. On its Twitter Account, the organization warns “As Florida experiences heat waves & high temperatures, residents & visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated & cool to avoid heat-related illnesses.”

The site also provides a chart to let followers know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, as well as how to practice heat safety.

This is important information for all visitors of the theme parks to know as many are from parts of the world that do not experience extreme temps like this and may not be prepared to navigate the parks during a week or more of extreme heat where the heat indices are predicted to be in the 100s each day (heat indices more accurately depict what outdoor temps will feel like when the heat and humidity are combined).

Stay hydrated and take breaks when the heat rises!

If you’re visiting the parks this summer, be prepared for the heat! Take multiple air-conditioned breaks throughout the day, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and consider taking a mid-day break to escape the worst of it.
