Oriental Land Co., Ltd. has announced a new partnership agreement ahead of launching its own Disney Cruise Line ship in Japan, confirming a target year for the ship’s debut.
The agreement, signed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, is the first step in developing a cruise business in Japan. Per the agreement, Tokyo Port will be OLC’s cruise business’s primary departure and arrival point.
The details in the agreement also include the update that OLC plans to begin building the new Disney Cruise Line ship in 2025 and launch the ship in fiscal year 2028.
The ship will be among the Disney Wish class of ships. It will join the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. The Disney Wish launched in 2022 and the Disney Treasure will embark on its maiden voyage in December of 2024 from Port Canaveral. The Disney Destiny will launch in November 2025.
This will mark the first time a Disney cruise ship is owned and operated by an organization other than The Walt Disney Company.
