Well, we knew it was coming and now we know exactly when we’ll have to say goodbye to some of our favorite Hollywood Studios places.
Disney announced last year that the Muppet Courtyard would be closing this year to make room for a brand-new Monsters, Inc. area that will include a ride based on the famous swinging doors in the movie “Monsters, Inc.” as well as a new restaurant and other key landmarks that would be found in Monstropolis, the bustling city where all the good monsters live.
Now we’ve just learned when our old favorites will be closing down to help this area prepare for its bright future.
Phase one
The first phase of the closures will happen to the Mama Melrose restaurant. This Italian restaurant tucked in the back corner of the Muppet Courtyard will have its last day of service on May 10, 2025. Better make those reservations now if you’re craving some spaghetti or chicken parm before they’re gone.
Phase two
Phase two is the phase where we say goodbye to two classic muppet landmarks – Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo. Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo will enjoy their last day on June 7, 2025. On June 8th, the Muppets Courtyard will be completely walled off and closed.
We can find some solace in the fact that the Muppets will move over to Sunset Boulevard to take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at some time in the future, but we don’t have any dates on that phase of construction.
Sad to see the Muppet Courtyard close down for good?
