Construction permits for demolishing sections of Frontierland have been approved to make way for the new “Cars” and Villains land soon coming to Magic Kingdom.
A permit was originally filed by Disney in August of 2024 seeking approval for construction to take place in Frontierland, expanding Magic Kingdom beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. It was stated in the permit that due to the closure of the Rivers of America, the flow of water in the park would be altered. These changes necessitate the need for basin stormwater modifications and the construction of a stormwater management master treatment facility.
The approval comes after a delay due to the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) requesting additional details on the original application. Disney submitted an updated permit and was granted a deadline extension.
