Disneyland Resort is gearing up for a series of exciting developments, with major updates planned for both infrastructure and attractions. From a brand-new transportation hub to fresh additions in Disney California Adventure, here’s what’s ahead for fans and visitors.
Major Parking and Transportation Upgrades
A significant change is on the horizon for the east side of the Disneyland Resort. A new parking structure and transportation hub are planned for a section of the current Manchester cast member parking lot. This new facility is expected to offer around 6,000 parking spaces, along with improved areas for shuttles, rideshare pickups, and drop-offs.
To make guest access easier and traffic flow smoother, this project will include:
- A dedicated entrance for vehicles from Disney Way
- Enhanced security screening zones
- A pedestrian bridge crossing over Harbor Boulevard
This new bridge will link guests directly to an all-new resort esplanade, creating a more convenient and scenic arrival experience. The pedestrian bridge will also give locals and visitors walking along Harbor Boulevard better access to the resort.
Preparing for Future Resort Growth
This transportation project marks the first phase in a long-term plan aimed at accommodating new attractions and larger crowds in the years to come. The upcoming expansions include doubling the size of Avengers Campus and introducing two highly anticipated experiences:
- A “Coco”-themed attraction
- A new Avatar-inspired area
Construction for the new arrival zone is scheduled to start in fall 2026.
“Coco” Attraction Will Join Pixar Pier
Disney California Adventure is set to welcome a vibrant new ride inspired by Pixar’s Coco. The attraction will be located near Paradise Gardens Park and Pixar Pier, taking over spaces currently used for backstage operations.

Behind-the-Scenes Work Begins Soon
Initial construction on the “Coco” attraction is expected to get underway this fall. While specific details about the ride experience haven’t been revealed yet, fans can look forward to a colorful and music-filled addition to the park.
Avatar Destination Moving Into Hollywood Backlot
Another major project in the works is a new Avatar-themed area within Disney California Adventure. A portion of the current Hollywood Backlot section will be transformed to create this immersive land.

Early Development, But Big Changes Ahead
While this Avatar project is still in its early planning stages, Disneyland has confirmed that additional information, including construction timelines, will be shared in the future. However, one existing attraction will be closing to make room for the new experience — Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! is set to close in early 2026.
Which of these new Disneyland Resort projects are you most excited about — the “Coco” ride, the Avatar land, or the Avengers Campus expansion?
