Over a year after announcing they intended to simplify Genie+ and Lightning Lane, Disney has announced changes to the services.
Disney Genie+ will be rebranded at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. The service will also be available to purchase ahead of time at Walt Disney World.
Let’s take a look at the changes that will go into effect on July 24, 2024:
Rename and Rebrand
Disney will rebrand the Genie+ service at both Disney World and Disneyland.
The company will rename Genie+ to Lightning Lane Multi-Pass, and they will rename Individual Lightning Lanes to Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Pay And Book In Advance
Guests staying at a Disney World hotel will be able to purchase Lightning Lanes seven days ahead of time. Hotel guests will be able to book Lightning Lane passes for the duration of their vacation up to 14 days.
All other guests will be able to purchase Lightning Lane at 7 AM, three days ahead of their first park day.
Like the former FastPass+ system, guests will also be able to book their Lightning Lane before they pay. This will allow guests to confirm they can get the attraction times they want before they pay.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+)
Lightning Lane Multi Pass will allow guests to make up to three Lightning Lane selections in one day at one theme park in advance. They’ll be able to choose from various available times. On the day of their visit, they can make additional selections after they use a Lightning Lane pass.
Lightning Lane Single Pass (formerly Individual Lightning Lanes)
The Lightning Lane Single Pass service will be mostly unchanged, except that guests can make selections in advance. Guests can make one or two selections per day for high-demand rides like TRON Lightcycle / Run or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
