Cabins at Fort Wilderness will be First Pet-Friendly Disney Vacation Club Resort

New documents filed by Disney Vacation Club with the local county government reveal information about the Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

The Cabins, located at Fort Wilderness are currently being reimagined before they reopen in 2024 as new DVC accommodations. Previously one of the few Walt Disney Resort hotels to be pet-dog-friendly, the cabins will remain that way, making them the first pet-dog-friendly DVC resort.

The cabins are limited to two pet dogs with no weight restrictions. Dogs must be fully trained and are not allowed on furniture anywhere on the resort property. When outside the cabin, dogs must be accompanied at all times and either on a leash or in a carrier. They are not allowed in food and beverage locations, lounges, pools, and other recreation areas. They can’t be left unattended for more than seven hours. Guests must contact housekeeping to schedule a room cleaning time when the dogs won’t be there and door hangers must be displayed on cabins where dogs are present.

A pet fee of $30 per night for owners and $50 per night for lessees, guests, invitees, licenses, and exchangers will be enforced.

According to DVC, they retain the right to evict a dog if they are disruptive to other guests. DVC members “should not purchase a Vacation Ownership interest in reliance on the continued ability to bring dogs onto the Resort Property” because the perk is not guaranteed.

Three other resorts allow pet dogs at Walt Disney World. They are Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Other types of pets are not allowed at this time. Walt Disney World also offers Best Friends Pet Hotel, “a resort for pets,” where guests can book their dogs, cats, and other small pets for daycare and overnight boarding.

Service dogs are allowed at all resorts and in areas, including theme parks, where pet dogs are not allowed.

Happy that the DVC Cabins at Fort Wilderness will remain pet-dog-friendly?
