The holidays are approaching, meaning LEGO Christmas sets are in full swing! My first holiday build of the season is the Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama (40658). At a $29.99 price point, I was really impressed with some of the details and had a ton of fun building it! The 282-piece set will only be available until the end of the year, so should you be rushing to purchase the Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama?

The set is advertised for ages 8+, so the overall build is relatively simple. However, there were many details that I enjoyed building. One design that stood out to me was the iconic Dejarik (chess) table and booth of the Falcon. To achieve a nice curved look for the bench and back, primarily angle-cut bricks (4624186) were stacked on each other. It was a really cool design.
Another one of the fun details in the diorama was the Christmas tree made up of stacked green plant leaves, which gives a nice look to the wall’s side view. I also liked the circular doorway leading into the feast.
The Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama is an impressive set, considering its small size. It provides ample room for builders to add or switch pieces according to their style. I am particularly impressed with the level of detail that LEGO has incorporated into the set while keeping its price point reasonable. A lot of builders online have decided to remove the holiday decor and incorporate other Star Wars minifigures for a simple Millennium Falcon interior diorama, so this type of repurposing is also possible.
Overall Thoughts
I was really impressed with the Millennium Falcon Holiday set. The amount of detail, the total number of minifigures, plus the creativity behind the entire diorama are well worth the $30 price tag. Although I think it will be a little tricky to add this piece to my other Christmas LEGO displays, I knew I needed to purchase the set.
One thing to note is that LEGO has stated this set is only available until 12/31/23, so what does that mean for inventory availability after that date? I’m not sure, but I would buy it sooner than later if you are interested.
