DinoLand Is Closing: Here’s What to Catch Before it Goes Extinct

DinoLand U.S.A. inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme park will soon close to pave the way for exciting new updates with an expansive Tropical Americas destination. The plans for DinoLand were announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Time is running out for the prehistoric pals we’ve made over the years. While we are excited about the future, we want to let you know how much time you have to visit attractions inside DinoLand as work begins on Tropical Americas.

Is DinoLand still open?

Yes! No Time Rover is needed to visit DinoLand because parts of the area will remain open through 2025, but you must act fast to visit your favorite prehistoric attractions.

What’s happening to DinoLand?

DinoLand will close to make room for a new location in Animal Kingdom: Tropical Americas. A brand-new, thrilling Indiana Jones experience will debut following Indy’s journey to find a mythical creature deep within the temple. In addition, a very famous house is coming with the first-ever Encanto-themed ride-through attraction based on the Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film.

When is DinoLand closing?

Don’t despair—there is still a lot of time to get in on some prehistoric fun. 2025 will be the last year to visit, but currently, many DinoLand locations, including DINOSAUR, the Boneyard, and Restaurantosaurus, are still operating. Stay tuned for updates as construction ramps up.

What’s already closed in DinoLand?

The first wave of closures happened earlier this year as we bid farewell to TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures on January 12, 2025.

Where can I find Animal Kingdom merchandise if not in Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures??

There are still plenty of locations throughout Animal Kingdom to pick up souvenirs. Island Mercantile, Discovery Trading Company, and the nearby Dino Institute Shop are in operation.

When is DINOSAUR closing?

2025 is your year to make plans to visit the past with DINOSAUR. Even once it closes, the Dino Institute’s legacy and asteroid impact will live on in our hearts.

When is Restaurantosaurus closing?

If you’re worried about where you will rustle up some grub, Restaurantosaurus will continue to operate in 2025. Be sure to stop by and pick up some tasty bites that are currently available. The nearby Dino-Bites Snacks is also open to meet your Dig Dino ice cream sandwich craving.

When is the Boneyard closing?

The Boneyard is still open and welcoming little archeologists for daily play and will remain open throughout 2025.

Does Dr. Seeker know?

Dr. Seeker is well aware that his tenure at the Dino Institute is coming to a close. He’s hopeful he can find that dino before security does!

A little bit about Tropical Americas:

Tropical Americas — better known as Pueblo Esperanza — will be a new 11-acre lush and sprawling area. Like Harambe, this land will feel lived in, with a long, rich history. The land will include a hacienda — one of the largest quick-service restaurants at Disney World Resort — and two signature attractions for Indiana Jones and Encanto.

Additionally, the area will feature a large fountain in the center, and a local woodcarver will create a giant working carousel featuring his favorite animals from Disney stories. It’s a new take on a classic attraction that young families will love.

Tropical Americas is scheduled to open in 2027, and land construction is ongoing.
