OLC, under a recently signed agreement, will operate a Disney-branded cruise business in Japan, expected to begin by early 2029. The agreement is the latest evolution in Disney’s over 40-year relationship with OLC. The magical Tokyo Disney Resort is also owned and operated by OLC.

A new Disney Cruise ship will be constructed at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, with an imaginative design created by Walt Disney Imagineering. The new ship will be registered and based in Japan year-round and is a sister ship to the popular Disney Wish. The new cruise ship will feature many guest-favorite venues and experiences from the Disney Wish, with select modifications specially designed with Japanese guests in mind. Powered by liquefied natural gas, it is expected to weigh approximately 140,000 gross tons and will have approximately 1,250 staterooms.

Japanese Disney fans and visitors from around the world will experience fun and relaxation with the addition of a locally-based Disney cruise ship. The ship will include magical voyages filled with incredible entertainment, world-class dining, and exceptional guest service that set Disney cruises apart.

Details about the maiden voyage, itineraries, and onboard experiences will be announced at a later date.
