The first closing date for parts of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been announced. The land will become the Tropical Americas-themed land, Pueblo Esperanza.
Originally Disney announced construction would begin this fall, however, it has now been announced that the first phase of DinoLand closures is scheduled for January 12, 2025. This will be the final day of operation for TriceraTop Spin, Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures.
For the time being, DINOSAUR, The Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, Dino-Bite Snacks, and Trilo-Bites will all stay open during this first phase of closures, giving guests plenty of time to experience DINOSAUR before it permanently closes.
The first notice of commencement for construction was filed in May. Additional permits were then filed in July. This all comes years after one of DinoLand’s main attractions, Primeval Whirl, permanently closed and was demolished.
Fossil Fun Games are a series of carnival games near TriceraTop Spin and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures is a themed gift shop.

Pueblo Esperanza
Pueblo Esperanza will be a lush, sprawling village with a fountain in the center. A model of the land debuted at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. New attractions will include a giant wood-carved carousel and an “Encanto” ride. DINOSAUR will become an Indiana Jones ride. The “Encanto” and Indiana Jones rides are scheduled to open in 2027.
Glad that DinoLand U.S.A.’s closures will make room for Pueblo Esperanza?
