Disney Aspire, an innovative educational initiative, is celebrating its fifth anniversary. This program serves as a valuable resource for hourly cast members and employees, empowering them to pursue their educational dreams.
Two inspiring individuals who benefited from this initiative are Maniala Lucien and Patrickson Lume, both of whom started their journeys in Haiti and now reside in Central Florida. Let’s take a look at their success stories!
Cast Member Education Success Stories
Maniala Lucien, a dedicated mother of three, has devoted nearly 25 years to Disney. Her remarkable journey began in 1998 when she immigrated from Haiti, armed with limited English language skills. Over the years, she has climbed the career ladder, currently holding the role of a Disney Housekeeping Guest Experience Manager. Thanks to Disney Aspire, Maniala achieved a significant milestone in 2021 by earning a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management. Not content with just one achievement, she is currently pursuing a master’s degree in human resources and is expected to graduate later this year.
Patrickson Lume’s Disney story started in 2013 when he joined as an attractions host at EPCOT. His lifelong dream was to become an engineer, and when Disney Aspire extended its opportunities to all cast members, he wasted no time in seizing this chance. In 2021, Patrickson proudly graduated from Valencia College with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. Today, he contributes to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as part of the Sustaining Engineering team, where his primary focus lies in ensuring the reliability of attractions.
