Disney Cruise Line Will Purchase Unfinished Ship – Global Dream

Disney Cruise Line has announced that it will purchase and complete an unfinished cruise ship previously known as the Global Dream in Wismar, Germany. Disney will rename the ship and add Disney-designed features.

Disney will base the new ship in the US and will design the interior with iconic Mickey Mouse-inspired colors of the fleet, complete with signature red funnels.

The 208,000-gross-ton ship is expected to be one of the first to be powered by green methanol, a low-emission fuel.

The new Disney Cruise Line ship will have a passenger capacity of around 6,000 with 2,300 crew members.

The former MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany, under the management of Meyer Werft, will finish the ship.  This is the same firm that built the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish.

Excited that Disney Cruise Line is adding a new ship?
