Disney Pays Tribute to Veterans: President George W. Bush’s Art Exhibit Coming to EPCOT

May marks the beginning of National Military Appreciation Month, and soon EPCOT will host an exceptional collection at The American Adventure Pavilion. On June 9, Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, a special exhibit from the George W. Bush Institute, will be unveiled as part of Disney’s ongoing commitment to honoring U.S. Armed Forces personnel and veterans.

The exhibit is a manifestation of President Bush’s dedication and the continuous efforts of the Bush Institute’s Veterans and Military Families program. Featuring over 60 vivid oil paintings by President Bush, the collection portrays service members and veterans who have demonstrated valor in uniform since 9/11, individuals whom the President has personally encountered post-office.

Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Experiences, expressed gratitude to the Bush Institute for sharing this significant collection with Disney’s guests.

The veteran’s inspiring story accompanies each painting, penned personally by President Bush.  It offers insight into their heroic journey from battlefield bravery to post-military leadership.

Originally debuted in 2017 at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas, Portraits of Courage showcases the resilience and sacrifice of America’s military personnel. Ken Hersh, President and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, hopes the exhibit will remind visitors of the dedication and challenges service members and their families face.

In addition to the artwork, the exhibit will provide information and resources to support post-9/11 veterans and their families. One such resource is Check-In, a platform connecting veterans to mental and brain health care services at no cost.

Disney’s commitment to honoring veterans extends beyond the exhibit. Disney Consumer Products, alongside the Disney SALUTE veteran employee resource group, will host Disney VoluntEARS events in Glendale, CA, and Orlando, FL, assembling USO care packages for deployed military service members. This initiative aligns with Disney’s longstanding partnership with the USO, aiming to provide a connection to home for those serving overseas.

As National Military Appreciation Month unfolds, Disney looks forward to additional events leading up to the return of the Department of Defense Warrior Games at Disney World from June 21-30.

Glad that Disney is committed to honoring veterans by celebrating National Military Appreciation Month?
