Disney Serves Up Food for Families in Need this Thanksgiving

As families across the country prepare to sit down on Thanksgiving Day and express gratitude, we are reminded of those less fortunate. A tradition at Walt Disney World is to provide warm Thanksgiving meals to Central Florida residents without a home and experiencing hardship. Disney has carried this tradition for more than 25 years!

This year, 15 Disney chefs are preparing meals for more than 1,000 individuals and families at Coalition for the Homeless and Harbor House of Central Florida. On Thanksgiving Day (tomorrow), Walt Disney World Cast Members will serve the meals directly to the residents at the Coalition.

“We put so much of ourselves into the meals we prepare for our guests in the parks, but doing something like this for our community means the world to us – especially during a holiday that’s all about giving thanks and giving back,” said Disney World Executive Chef, John Prieto.

Anaheim Families Receive Groceries for the Holiday

Meanwhile, over on the West Coast, Disneyland Resort is again teaming up with Northgate Gonzalez Markets this holiday season to provide groceries to Anaheim families in need.

Disneyland Resort and Northgate, in addition to distributing boxes of groceries to 125 families, are donating a total of $15,000 in holiday food vouchers to three community nonprofits. The organizations are the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim — Cypress, the Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center, and Chrysalis Anaheim. More exciting magic is in store for eight families who will be surprised with a day at Disneyland Resort — along with gift cards and Disney merchandise — to make magical memories together during the holiday season.

“Nothing brings us more joy than making a positive impact in our community,” said Raul Aquino Rojas, Disney Ambassador of Disneyland Resort. “Teaming up with Northgate González Market to give a helping hand – and even make some extra holiday magic – is a wonderful way to share the spirit of the season and create lasting memories for families right here in Anaheim.”
