Do you like to take your dog or cat along with you on your Disney World vacation? Many folks like to bring fido of fluffy along, but that can create some issues. You want your pet to be safe and well cared for, but Disney does not allow pets to say in the Disney resort hotels. And of course you don’t want to leave your pet in your car, since the Florida weather will create dangerous heat – even with the windows cracked.
Fortunately, there are several places on Disney property where you pet can hang out and have fun while you run around the Magic Kingdom. But only one is the biggest and provides the most options.
Best Friends Pet Care
The Best Friends Pet Care center is not operated directly by Disney, but it might as well be. It is located on Disney property, not far from Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter. It has all the quality services and fun architectural details you would expect from Disney, but just geared toward cats and dogs.
And you might be surprised – even amazed – at the services available for those who love to pamper their pets.
Boarding
Whether your best friend will stay for just the day or also overnight, there are many boarding service levels available. The basics include an air-conditioned bedroom with a cot as well as a private outdoor patio. Sizes start at 3 feet by 4 feet and include a walk by a staff member. These homes away from homes start at less than $40.
From there it gets fun. Beyond the basic suite you can get upgrades to larger sized rooms. All the way up to the VIP Suites. Really. These include more than 200 square feet of space, a flat screen TV, a raised platform bed, and even a pet concierge. Add in a bed time story and free bath with three day minimum stay, and this may seem like a bargain at about $80 a day. Your pet may have a nicer vacation than you do.
Day Care
If your pet doesn’t need overnight accommodations, you might consider day care where your pet will enjoy play time with certified counselors. You can even watch your pet via web cam. The counselors interview each pet to make sure that they are a good fit for the day care activities. I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds official.
Does your pet need a good cleaning? They can get a shampoo, a brushing, a nail trim, and even a massage. Additional services offered include teeth brushing and nail polish.
All Kinds Welcome – Almost
This Pet Care center welcomes all sizes of dogs and cats, as well as rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, and hamsters. The staff members have open arms, but they do draw a line – venomous pets or primates are not allowed. We can understand why.
