Disney’s Fort Wilderness Cabins are Becoming DVC Properties

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground will be undergoing an overall refreshment as part of a project between Walt Disney World Resort and Disney Vacation Club. The project will involve The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort becoming the next Disney Vacation Club property at Walt Disney World Resort.

The current cabins of the resort will be rebuilt as refreshed hideaways. The project is projected to open in 2024 and there will be no impact on the campground sites at the resort, but the cabins will close in phases as the project begins.

More than 350 new cabins will replace the existing cabins nestled across the 750 acres of scenic woodlands. The cabins will be constructed with an eye toward the environment. Instead of developing more land, the cabins will be built using the footprint of the existing cabins.

The proposed, stand-alone cabins will offer spacious accommodations, sleeping up to six adults, and will feature a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio. Expect them to feel very similar in layout, but refreshed. A select number of cabins are also expected to be dog-friendly.

Cabins to capture the same charm but refreshed

The current cabins have a rustic feel, blending into the resort. The new cabins will capture the same charm but will be updated with new interiors allowing more natural light inside. Disney says, “Design concepts offer a fresh take on the current cabin experience and are inspired by the resort’s idyllic setting, while also paying homage to the resort’s unique culture and heritage through the magic of Disney storytelling.”

As is the case with all Disney Vacation Club resorts, the proposed cabins will be open for reservations to all guests. You don’t have to be a DVC member to enjoy a resort you have loved for years and years, however, going forward, reservations will be based on availability.

Enhancements are also expected for the resort pool and walking trails. Trail’s End Restaurant was recently closed as part of the enhancements, which will expand the dining experience at the resort. More news on all the enhancements will be shared as it is released.

Assuming the project is completed, this will be the 17th Disney Vacation Club Resort and seemingly solidifies there are no chance Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge will be built at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
