It’s time once again for the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, 2022 edition!
This year I had a chance to sample many of the dishes, courtesy of the nice folks at Disney media relations.
I picked out the top four main dishes and the top three desserts that seem to get the best reviews on websites across the internet and tried them personally. I then picked what I consider to be the best overall main dish and the best overall dessert item at the festival. Admittedly, I didn’t try all the dozens and dozens of options, but I’ve tried plenty over the years.
Tricky Recommendations: Picking The Best Of The Best
I know that picking the best of something like food is always a bit dangerous. People have different tastes, and what I consider best you may not consider best.
That said, here are my top recommendations for you – first the runner-ups, and then the winner.
Main Dishes
Runner Up: Crispy Paneer
I’m personally a fan of Indian food and enjoy paneer cheese. This fried version, accompanied by mango chutney, is very good, with a firm cheese texture inside and a crisp fried coating outside.

Runner Up: Filet Mignon
The filet mignon was mostly tender, but any meat will be a bit difficult to cut with a plastic knife. The filet is served on a generous bed of mushrooms which were flavorful and went well with the meat.

Runner Up: Braised Beef Poutine
The French Fries were crispy and well done, and the combination of cheese, gravy, butter, and meat made for a delicious combination. I would definitely order this dish again.

Top Pick Main Dish: Impossible Meatballs
I personally have no issue eating real meat, and don’t typically seek out meat alternatives like Impossible meat. That said, these meatballs made of Impossible meat are simply delicious – whether real or not. They have a slight bit of spice and a pepper taste. They are moist and delicious. The basil pesto sauce adds to that presentation and the taste. Simply put, these meatballs are terrific. At $5.75, they are a decent deal for the portion size and I can’t wait to try these again.

Desserts
Runner Up: Lamington
This vanilla cake is a solid dessert. It’s moist without being too heavy, and the raspberry sauce adds nice flavor.

Runner Up: Guava Mousse
This moose is beautifully presented, firm, and refreshing. The taste is subtle and unique. I really enjoyed it.

Top Pick Dessert: Pina Colada Funnel Cake
A funnel cake is an American classic, and Disney has taken it to a new level with this version. The piña colada ice cream and rum sauce on top of the warm and crunchy funnel cake make a fabulous dessert. I enjoyed it so much that I almost ordered a second one. This was the star of the Festival and is on my list to get again and again.
