We had heard months ago that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was going to get some holiday music for riders to enjoy while trying to save the galaxy on EPCOT’s latest thrill ride. Then earlier this month at the New York Comic Con 2022, a panel of Walt Disney Imagineers took to the stage to talk about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. They also released concept art for what appears to be called “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Holiday Remix.”
It appears that one new song, which will be a mashup of multiple holiday songs along with some new lyrics, will be playing this holiday season for those guests brave enough to ride Cosmic Rewind. We do not know if the other standard songs on Cosmic Rewind will continue to play as well or if it’ll just be this new holiday song during the holiday season.
Imagineer Wyatt Winter explained, “This is an all-new, unique mashup song taking a lot of your favorite holiday songs we all know and love, and creating a new song with it…Imagineers were able to do some custom lyrics. This song will be the song you hear during the holiday season at EPCOT. It’s a lot of fun…we got to test it and play with it early this year.”
There were also discussions at the New York Comic Con about a holiday overlay. Disney sometimes does overlays of certain rides (such as making the Jungle Cruise into the Jingle Cruise) and it looks like they are planning something for Cosmic Rewind as well. To find out what that will look like, it seems like we’re just going to have to wait a bit longer.
