Disney Cruise Line Prepares to Debut “Hercules” Stage Show

Big things are happening aboard the Disney Destiny this fall, as Disney Cruise Line gets ready to unveil a brand-new stage production based on the beloved animated film Hercules. This lively, Broadway-style show will offer guests an unforgettable live entertainment experience when it debuts in November.

Recently, the creative team behind the production traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, to bring the show’s soundtrack to life in a fresh, reimagined way.

Reimagining a Classic Soundtrack

To give the Hercules musical score a new, soulful energy, Disney Live Entertainment brought together an impressive ensemble of performers and musicians. A select group of singers from Orlando joined a 17-voice gospel choir made up of some of Nashville’s top vocal talents. Together, they reworked the iconic soundtrack with vibrant new arrangements and a lively, gospel-inspired sound.

Backing up the singers was a powerhouse orchestra of nearly 70 musicians, accompanied by a 10-piece marching band-style drumline. The result is a high-energy, toe-tapping soundtrack that pays tribute to the original film while adding an exciting, modern twist.

Over 50 Hours of Studio Work

Creating the show’s music was no small task. The team dedicated over 50 hours of studio time to record and perfect the 55-minute soundtrack for the production. Fans of the original film will be thrilled to know that one of the songs included in the show is Shooting Star — a piece originally written for the movie but never used in the final cut. Now, it finally gets its moment to shine in this brand-new stage adaptation.

More Magic in the Making

With the soundtrack officially complete, the production team is moving forward on other elements of the show. From dazzling costumes to imaginative props and intricate choreography, every detail is being designed to deliver a larger-than-life experience for guests aboard the Disney Destiny.

As rehearsals and final touches continue, excitement is building for this new addition to Disney Cruise Line’s entertainment lineup.
