I Watched The Disney+ Series Behind The Attraction, Season 2: Here’s Why It’s Worth Your Time

Thanks to the nice folks over at Disney+ Media Relations, I had an opportunity to check out an early preview of Season 2 of the Disney+ series, Behind The Attraction.

Season 2 premieres on Disney+ on November 1, 2023, and is brought to us by Executive Producers Dwayne Johnson (yes, that Dwayne Johnson – The Rock has a long-running relationship with Disney), Dany Garcia, and Brian Volk-Weiss.

Season 1 of the show covered topics such as the Jungle Cruise, Star Tours, and animatronics.

Season 2 covers these topics:

  • Episode 1 – Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Episode 2 – Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Episode 3 – Indiana Jones Adventure
  • Episode 4 – EPCOT
  • Episode 5 – The Food
  • Episode 6 – Nighttime Spectaculars

Like the previous season, the series offers plenty of behind-the-scenes images, historical photos, and interviews with Disney Imagineers and Cast Members.  Even if you are a Disney superfan, you will see some new footage or pick up a new factoid or two.

Fun Disney Stories

For example, in Episode 5 titled “The Food,” the show provided a lot of details about Walt’s personal housekeeper, Thelma Howard.  Thelma was like a part of the Disney family in their Holmby Hills home and was responsible for cooking, cleaning, and generally taking care of the estate.

Walt made a list of things he liked to eat (chili) and wanted in his meals (only one vegetable per meal).  He put the list on the kitchen refrigerator for Themla to reference.

The chefs at Disneyland Paris used this list from Walt’s fridge, together with the stories of Walt’s preferences, to create a deconstructed chili dish for the upscale restaurant in the park called “Walts.”  At the same time, they admit to breaking his rule of having only one veggie per meal.

This series carries a similar tone to the first season – it’s fun and informative but doesn’t take itself too seriously.  Overall, it’s a fun way to learn a bit more about how Disney Parks work.
