Lightning Lane Multi Pass Adding ‘The Little Mermaid’ Musical at Hollywood Studios

Big changes are swimming into Disney’s Hollywood Studios next week as a new stage show prepares to debut — and it’s already been added to the park’s Lightning Lane Multi Pass options.

New Show Joins Lightning Lane Lineup

When “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” officially opens on May 27, guests will be able to select it as part of their Lightning Lane Multi Pass reservations. Although the show hasn’t opened yet, it’s already appearing on the list of eligible attractions inside the My Disney Experience app.

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass is Walt Disney World’s paid service that lets guests book return times for select attractions, allowing them to skip the regular standby lines. Pricing for the service can fluctuate based on the date and demand — with the highest price point seen during last year’s holiday season.

How Multi Pass Works

  • Multi Pass allows guests to select up to three attractions per day in advance.

  • Attractions are divided into tiers, with guests allowed to pick one from the top tier and the rest from a lower tier.

  • It’s only valid for one park per day.

Although Disney hasn’t confirmed which tier “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will belong to, it’s likely to join the lower tier alongside other stage shows.

A New Take on a Classic Favorite

This fresh production of “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” is taking over the space once occupied by “Voyage of The Little Mermaid,” which closed in 2020 and never reopened. The updated version pays tribute to the original with familiar elements, such as puppetry, while introducing new effects and staging.

The new show’s marquee was recently installed in Animation Courtyard, hinting at the excitement to come. Disney has already released a first look at the production, featuring an appearance by Jodi Benson, who voiced Ariel in the original animated film.

Other New Entertainment Offerings

Opening the same day is “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After,” another new stage show at the park. However, this production isn’t yet listed among the Lightning Lane options. Disney may be holding off on adding it initially, possibly expecting high demand and choosing to offer it through the separate Lightning Lane Single Pass system.

The addition of “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” gives guests another opportunity to enhance their park day by securing a guaranteed spot for this new entertainment offering without waiting in standby.

Would you pay extra to skip the line for a stage show, or prefer standby seating?
