The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (formerly known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District) is looking at plans to invest nearly $100 million in road infrastructure projects at Walt Disney World.
Sources report that the District seeks approval for significant funding aimed at improving key transportation routes.
The proposed projects include:
- Upgrades on World Drive – a main artery that connects Interstate 4 to Disney property
- Bridge replacements on Buena Vista Drive – the road that runs south of EPCOT and Disney Springs
- Enhancements to Buena Vista Drive and Western Way interchange
- Widening of Western Way – the main road that leads into Flamingo Crossings
- Resurfacing parts of Buena Vista Drive and World Drive.
The district administration emphasized the urgency of these projects, citing continuous population growth and anticipated development in the area. The enhancements are deemed necessary to accommodate the increasing traffic demands, necessitating substantial capital investments.
