The Tournament of Disney Rides presented by World of Walt is hitting the home stretch, with the field now narrowed down to its final eight attractions. The top seed remains in the action at three of the four Walt Disney World parks, while the Magic Kingdom continues to be home to surprises up and down the bracket.
Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion, seeded seventh and eighth, both scored upset wins for the second straight week. Pirates followed up a six-vote win over Splash Mountain with a 445 to 426 victory over Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Next it will meet the Mansion, which handily defeated Space Mountain with 58% of the votes.
Animal Kingdom had its own upset of sorts, with #3 Expedition Everest knocking off #2 Kilimanjaro Safaris. Everest now moves on for a challenging matchup with #1 Avatar Flight of Passage, which cruised past Kali River Rapids 78%-22%.
The top seeds remained on collision courses with each other at Epcot and Hollywood Studios, where Soarin’, Test Track, Rise of the Resistance, and Toy Story Mania were all easy winners.
The last eight E-Ticket attractions square off this week, and with multiple surprises (to me, at least) so far, it’s anybody’s guess what will happen from here.
