In the world of theme parks, Disney rules the worldwide roost. Of course, Disney gave birth to the very first modern theme park when Disneyland opened in Anaheim, California in 1955.
Main Street, USA at the Magic Kingdom represents an idealized turn-of-the-century town square. Inspired by Walt Disney' own memories of growing up in small town America, the street is a tribute to optimism and community, nostalgia and progress.
The World Showcase left room for several additional pavilions, and an area dedicated to the countries of Equatorial Africa was already in its conceptual stages by the time Epcot snipped its opening ribbon.
Disney fans express themselves and their devotion to Disney in many ways. They wear t-shirts, paste bumper stickers, throw theme parties, sport Mouse ears, and fill their homes and workspaces with photos of Disney theme park adventures.
Many people plan trips to Disney World to celebration special events – everything from a birthday to a graduation, from a family reunion to, yes, winning the Super Bowl. And with celebrations often come special dinners.
