New Permits Suggest the Reflections Resort Construction May Begin Again Soon

Those of you who have been following Disney news for several years may remember when Disney announced a new resort scheduled to be built on the former River Country site.

Reflections – A Disney Lakeside Lodge, was promoted as being a new DVC resort near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground in 2o18, but once the COVID-19 Pandemic hit, all construction was halted,  No one heard anything else and it was assumed that plans for it were completely canceled.

But now, in surprising news, a new permit has been approved and it confirms that construction of some type may be back on! The permit’s “Description of Proposal” states it’s for:

“Construction of mobile cranes to construct a 10-story hotel. The mobile cranes can reach a max height of 240 ft. AGL when raised to its highest point. When idle, during non-working hours, the crane will be at a max height of 150 ft. AGL.”

The crane is scheduled for work from October 14 until August 14, 2025.

There are also several filings for construction permit extensions, further increasing speculation that some resort is back in the works for that area. No word from Disney whether it will still be named Reflections or follow the original design plans, but it seems likely that another resort will open in the future.
