Voting in the Tournament of Rides presented by World of Walt moved to Epcot and Hollywood Studios last week, and the action did not disappoint. Three separate matchups went down to the wire with the winning ride picking up less than 53% of the head-to-head votes.
The marquee matchup came at Hollywood Studios, a back-and-forth battle between #4 Rock n Roller Coaster and the #5 Tower of Terror. (Or perhaps that’s an “up-and-down” battle if the Tower is involved…) Aerosmith must have cranked up their amps in the late-going, though, as Rock’n’Roller held on at the end to win by less than 20 votes.
#3 Slinky Dog Dash found itself in a barn-burner as well, coming from behind to knock off Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway with 53% of the vote. Over at Epcot, things went better for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which rallied to knock off Spaceship Earth with 51%. Epcot also saw a particularly spunky performance from 6-seed Living with the Land, which held its own against powerhouse Frozen Ever After before eventually falling 59%-41%.
Epcot and the Studios now get a week off. Voting returns to Magic Kingdom, where we get a massive clash between #2 Splash Mountain and #7 Pirates of the Caribbean. We also get our first look at the Animal Kingdom bracket, including a first-round clash between #4 Kali River Rapids and #5 Na’vi River Journey. Here are the pairings – a voting link is below:
