Starting May 22, 2026, guests at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will discover exciting upgrades to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. For the first time, riders will be able to influence their destination mid-mission. Instead of a single route, the crew will steer the Falcon toward various iconic Star Wars locales—such as the gas planet Bespin, the remains of the second Death Star near Endor, or the newly revealed metropolis of Coruscant.
Interacting with Grogu Onboard
Another new addition allows those in the engineer role to interact with Grogu (popularly known as Baby Yoda) during the journey. This added layer of interactivity brings fresh energy to the ride and deepens the connection to the broader Star Wars universe.
A New Storyline Takes Flight
Coinciding with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu from Lucasfilm, these enhancements bring an all-new story to the attraction, though it’s not directly tied to the events of the film. This updated experience has guests teaming up with Mando and Grogu on a high-stakes bounty mission. The journey kicks off with a tip from Hondo Ohnaka, who’s discovered a shady meeting on Tatooine involving rogue Imperial officers and pirates.

The new interactive elements are made possible through a close collaboration with Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the renowned visual effects company. Leveraging Unreal Engine 5 from Epic Games—the same platform used to create The Mandalorian series—Disney has crafted a cutting-edge experience where every crew’s mission can unfold in unique ways.
Popular Droids Making the Rounds
Disney confirmed the fan-favorite BDX droids are making special appearances at multiple parks. While they’ve recently landed at Tokyo Disney Resort, fans can look forward to limited-time visits from these droids at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris as well.
