The Walt Disney Company Announces a $1 Million Multi-Year Grant at Florida A&M University

Disney Future Storytellers Fund gets a boost from Disney!

The Walt Disney Company has announced a $1 million grant to Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) School of Journalism & Graphic Communications (SJGC). The purpose of the donation is to establish the Disney Storytellers Fund at FAMU over the next five years.

An initiative aimed at increasing access to careers in storytelling and innovation for individuals from historically underrepresented or marginalized communities, the grant is part of the Disney Future Storytellers program. The donation will provide selected Students at SJGC with tuition and housing scholarships, a stipend, specialized programming, mentoring, leadership development, and more.

The announcement was made by ABC News President and FAMU alumna Kim Godwin on behalf of Disney during the University’s Homecoming Convocation. FAMU’s School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) was established in 1982 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2022. Godwin’s hope for the donation from The Walt Disney Company is to allow the next generation of bold, straightforward journalists to uncover their potential and achieve their dreams.
