We had a great time during Saturday’s Magic Kingdom visit chatting about the new Tournament of Rides presented by World of Walt, with lots of folks joining the fun in voting for their favorites. The first-round Magic Kingdom voting is now in the books, with eight favorites advancing.
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad all advanced easily, as did the Jungle Cruise, Space Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. Though seeded seventh, Pirates of the Caribbean routed the Mad Tea Party with 94% of the vote, posting the highest overall total of the first round.
There was one upset in store, as #11 Peter Pan’s Flight held off the #6 PeopleMover to prevail by just 32 votes. Topher Goggin, who is coordinating the tournament through his “Not Your Mother’s Goose” show, said that the PeopleMover got a vote surge during Saturday’s broadcast thanks to votes from World of Walt fans, but it wasn’t enough.
Magic Kingdom voting will return in a week along with Animal Kingdom, but first, it’s time to vote at Hollywood Studios and Epcot. There are some very interesting matchups:
