Walt Disney Company Plans to Increase Spending May Be Good News for Theme Parks

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, The Walt Disney Company disclosed plans to increase its overall capital expenditure projects by around 37% in the fiscal year 2023, compared to the previous year. This likely means that Disney will be allocating more money for theme parks. The fiscal year starts and ends on October 1 of each year. Theme parks account for most of the capital expenditures for The Walt Disney Company, so this could mean good news for theme park fans.

The filing indicated that Disney would increase capital expenditures from $4.9 billion to $6.7 billion. The increase in spending should pique the interest of all theme park fans. Disney has stated that the 37% increase in spending will be “due to higher spending across the enterprise.” Theme park fans who have been crying out for investment might just see good things coming their way.

It is important to note that planned expenditures might not connect to actual expenditures, but if in this case they do, this could mean a record level of investment in theme parks. To give you an idea, in 2021 Disney planned $6.1 billion in capital expenditure for projects for fiscal 2022. The actual amount spent was $4.9 billion. It seems to indicate that since Disney is increasing spending for the fiscal year 2023, evidence of the capital expenditure should be seen across all Disney Parks.
