Just in time for the Christmas holiday, excited guests will once again be welcomed aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad!
The railroad has been closed since December of 2018 when construction began on Tron Lightcycle Run coaster. This week, Cast Members and Imagineers are celebrating the much-anticipated return of this guest-favorite attraction. This opening-day attraction returns with a completely refreshed track looping the park, and another new surprise for fans and first-timers alike.
In addition to the track updates and maintenance of the historic train, Walt Disney World Imagineering jumped at the opportunity to revisit the narration and introduce an all-new voice to bring guests into the stories they hear traveling from one magic land to the next. “The familiar whistle of its steam engine will be complemented by exciting new sounds and voices,” the team of Imagineers shared. “A new conductor has assumed the role, carrying on the long tradition of warm welcomes and amusing anecdotes while adding fresh commentary and story to the journey.”

The voiceover process is just as vital as the train operation itself, and it all begins with the conductor. It’s important that the guiding voice be one that guests can envision and relate to. The unofficial mayor of sorts would be someone who grew up on Main Street, U.S.A., and has dreamed of the day they would be on the railroad. The voice of the conductor should mimic someone who is humble, genial, and knowledgeable, eager to help passengers get to their destinations around the park he is so passionate about.
Magic Kingdom is a place unlike any other, where you can escape into new worlds and celebrate with beloved characters. The attraction now holds true the very nostalgia of opening day, blending it with the wonders of new adventures. As the train loops gently around the park, you may encounter a character or two as you journey!
Walt Disney’s love of trains is being shared with the world once again, as excited guests embark on the iconic grand circle tour of the Magic Kingdom this holiday season.
