Do you want to bring your pet along with you on your Disney World vacation?
If so, you will need to do a bit of extra research and planning on just where your pet will stay.
Here is some important information to know and tips to consider when planning your Disney World vacation with a pet.
Disney Parks Do Not Allow Pets
None of the Disney parks allow pets. That includes the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and (perhaps ironically?) Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The only pets allowed are service animals. Disney does provide several relief areas for service animals in each park. The service animal must be on a leash or harness at all times, and the animals are not permitted on rides.
Disney Resorts Do Not Allow Pets
All Disney resort hotels, with something of an exception noted below, do not allow you to bring pets of any kind onto the resort premises. Unfortunately, Snoopy or Tiger will never see the inside of Disney’s Contemporary Resort or Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
While Disney Resort Hotels do not allow any pets, there is something of an exception. You can bring a pet with you if you are staying at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground, and you are staying at a full hook up site. You need to stay in a full Recreational Vehicle meaning all the sides are made completely of metal. Pop-up campers, which have vinyl or screened sides, do not count since your pet could escape through these materials and injure himself or herself or someone else.
Best Friends Pet Care Facility
If you bring your pet, want to stay on Disney property, and aren’t going to be visiting in an RV, what can you do? Fortunately, you can board your pet at a facility on Disney property called Best Friends Pet Care. This facility is not operated directly by Disney, but it offers high quality care, including day care, overnight care, and grooming. You can even check in on your pet via web cam.
It is actually illegal in the state of Florida to leave your pet in a parked car. Even if you leave the windows down, the heat can build up so quickly and so intensely that it can kill your pet.
Pet Tags
It’s always a good idea to make sure you pet has all their legal tags, but also a tag with your contact information in case you get separated from your pet. This is even more critical when you are on vacation.
Explore Off-Site Options
Staying in a resort that is on Disney property is usually a great idea, but if you have a pet and want the pet to stay with you in your room, you will need to look at alternatives. You can use sites like Pets Welcome or Dog Friendly to search for hotels that will welcome your best friend.
Pet Vacation Fun
Bringing your pet along with you on a Disney World vacation will take a bit of planning, but it is possible. While your dog, cat, or guinea pig won’t be able to ride Space Mountain with you, you can arrange it so that they can have a fun and safe vacation too.
