It seemed likely that Typhoon Lagon would reopen when ariel photography showed that the park was staged for guests, but now it is official: Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will reopen on January 2, 2022.
Disney’s water park will include favorite attractions as well as the debut of new menu items and other commemorative culinary features – including some to celebrate Disney’s 50th Anniversary.

Park Backstory
Typhoon Lagoon tells the story of a rogue storm and tidal wave that wreaked havoc on a waterside paradise. You can see the impacts of the storm on the architecture, and hints of the storm’s power show up all around the park with nautical gear everywhere and a ship, Miss Tilly, sitting atop the summit of Mount Mayday.
Attractions Return
Popular attractions will return, including slides, flumes, and play spaces for every member of the family.
- Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, America’s largest outdoor wave pool that generates perfect waves every time.
- Miss Adventure Falls, a family raft attraction created when Captain Mary Oceaneer (a member of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers) was caught in the storm and her treasure scattered across the area’s tropical paradise.
- Crush ‘n’ Gusher, a thrilling water coaster featuring three 400-foot-long tube slides named for the various fruits they once transported.
- Castaway Creek, a scenic lazy river encircling the entire water park offering shade, waterfalls, overhead rope bridges, and lush landscapes.
- Humunga Kowabunga, offering a choice of three adrenaline-filled body slides set against the steep inclines of Mount Mayday.
Surf Programs Return
The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool uses state-of-the-art technology to create the perfectly controlled wave each time, including right, left, or center peaks.

- Learn to Surf – Ideal for all skill levels, surf lessons offer guests the chance to learn to surf during group lessons with a certified surf instructor.
- Private Surf Bookings – Guests can host their own private surfing event for up to 25 individuals during select times. Private Surf is returning on January 7; bookings are now available.
New Frozen Desserts
Guests can select from new DOLE Whip menu offerings at the Snack Shack. In addition to two Moana-inspired DOLE Whip character cones, guests can tantalize their taste buds by building their own tropical flavor combination with their choice of mango, lime, raspberry, or pineapple DOLE Whip.
Adults can up their game by adding in tequila, coconut rum, or dark rum. The Snack Shack at Typhoon Tilly’s will also serve the Habanero Lime Galley Shack Swirl, a new signature cocktail balancing spicy habanero, sweet mango, and tangy lime flavors.
