Five Reasons to Try the Behind The Seeds Tour: The Land Pavilion in Epcot

Today were are going to look at five great reasons to check out the Behind the Seeds tour.  Let’s go!

1 – Price!

I have to admit, I love a good deal! I’m a cheapskate by heart, even when it comes to Disney. I’m constantly looking for free things, on-sale things and inexpensive things to do while I’m at Disney. And while I love tours, most of them at Disney are fairly expensive. This is not to say they’re not worth it. I’ve had the pleasure of doing a couple of the more expensive tours and they’re amazing but when you’re on a tight budget, it can be hard to allocate the money for your family to do a tour. The Behind The Seeds Greenhouse Tour is only $25 per adult and $20 per kid (and it accepts discount rates for Chase credit card). This makes this tour an incredible deal!

2 – Length

There is so much to do at Disney, that no matter how long your vacation is, you can just never get it all done. Because of that, it may make choosing a 7-hour tour impossible in your schedule. The Behind The Seeds tour is only about 1.5 hours so you won’t feel like you’re giving up an entire day. The shorter length really helps it seem more like a break from the hectic pace at Disney instead of a scheduled event that causes you to rush in other parts of your trip to make up for time spent on your tour. It’s also a great length for kids who perhaps don’t have the stamina to do a half-day or all-day tour.

3 – Pre-registering usually not needed

One of the best things about this tour is you don’t necessarily have to plan it months in advance. You can simply walk up to the sign-up window in the Land Pavilion (right down by where Soarin’ exits its ride) and see when the next tour is. If you go early enough in the day, it’ll probably be same day, maybe even within the hour. When I booked, the next tour was in an hour. I looked over at Soarin’, saw it had a 45-minute wait so I walked into the queue, waited for Soarin’, rode it and then got back in plenty of time for my tour. There’s no guarantee you’ll always get signed up that easily, so if you’re really set on doing it, then go ahead and preregister. But the openness of the tour makes it an easy one to sign up for when the weather is not cooperating and you need some “inside” time.

4 – All Indoor

So, speaking of weather, many tours spend a significant amount of their time walking outdoors so you need to be weather ready. Behind The Seeds takes place pretty much entirely inside the 4 greenhouses and the fish farm of The Land so it’s a great thing to do when Florida weather is being its moody self. Thunderstorms were plaguing the parks on my last visit, so I was happy to be under the glass roof of the greenhouse while storms raged outside.

5 – It’s interactive, fun and informative

As always with Disney tours, I’m amazed at Disney’s heart behind the magic. On this tour, you learn how they are studying plant life and feeding our world in better ways. You get to see all kinds of unique growing techniques and are actually encouraged to interact and participate with the plants and fish. The tour guides are extremely knowledge and welcome any questions, happy to share their discoveries with you. I was especially lucky on my tour because I was the only one who signed up so I received a private one-on-one tour where I could ask non-stop questions. It’s also really fun to be walking among the plants while the ride goers travel through the actual Living with the Land ride. It made me feel like a VIP!

The Behind The Seeds Greenhouse Tour is the perfect tour for the first-time tour participant, and I highly recommend it. It’s great for all ages and while you do walk the entire time, it’s not a tough walk. You’ll just want to make sure you have comfortable shoes (but really, how is that any different than what you wear to a Disney park anyway)?
