Orange County, Florida, is home to most of Walt Disney World’s property. The County Mayor, Jerry Demings, announced that he will allow the county’s COVID-19 state of local emergency to expire on October 27, 2021.
Demmings said that allowing the expiration will happen because the county has had a consistently low COVID-19 positivity rate.
Orange County COVID-19 Trends
The 14-day positivity rate is 3.51%. Recent data shows this is the 17th day in a row the positivity rate has been below 5%.
In addition, 75% of eligible residents are vaccinated.
COVID-19 Rules
Employers have the option to decide whether employees or customers must wear masks indoors.
Employees of Orange County must still wear masks indoors until the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changes the county’s status from “substantial” to “moderate” community spread. A downgrade to “moderate” could happen if the current situation remains.
Demings stated that if cases rise again, he may reinstate the emergency order.
Disney World Impact Unknown
Disney World has not made any announcements about changes to its mask policy, which does not require masks outdoors but does require them indoors and on Disney transportation.
Glad to see the Orange County COVID-19 State of Emergency Expire?
